Hyperthermia or overheating is an abnormally high body temperature in rabbits. This condition occurs most often in hot weather as rabbits have a thick fur coat and are unable to pant or sweat to dissipate heat. Their main thermoregulatory organs are their ears. Unfortunately, even with treatment, the prognosis for rabbits with hyperthermia is guarded to poor.
